Redesigned 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

After 80 years, the redesigned 2015 Chevrolet Suburban continues to offer roominess, functionality and many amenities. It also represents the 80th anniversary and 12th generation of the original SUV.

The new Suburban was redesigned, along with the Chevrolet Tahoe. Together, they play an important role in the brand’s success.

With a starting MSRP of $49,000, the 2015 Suburban is offered in three models: LS, LT and LTZ. Additionally, it also features a new 5.3L V-8 with direct injection and other technologies that support nearly 10-percent greater highway efficiency, compared to previous models.

Contemporary design

The exterior design of the 2015 Suburban is more refined and sculpted, while inside, premium materials and enhanced ergonomics demonstrate the Suburban’s blend of sophistication, craftsmanship and function.

Looking at the various models, the top-of-the-line LTZ model features brighter trim on the fascia, grille, body sides and more. Inside, LTZ highlights include leather-appointed seating and keyless entry.

Designed for comfort and durability, a new high-wear cloth seat material is available in 2015 on LS and LT models (leather-appointed seating is also available on LT models).

Speaking of seating, the Suburban offers second-row occupants 39.7 inches of legroom, 65.1 inches of shoulder room and 60.3 inches of hip room. Third row dimensions include 34.5 inches of legroom, 62.6 inches of shoulder room and 49.3 inches of hip room.

Four interior color combinations are available: Jet Black, Cocoa/Dune, Jet Black/Dark Ash and Cocoa/Mahogany, while nine exterior color choices are available including hues such as Black, Crystal Red, White Diamond, Tungsten Metallic and Brownstone Metallic.

Suburban powertrain

Suburban’s new EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 engine is rated at 355 horsepower and 383 foot-pounds of torque, and features state-of-the-art technologies that all contribute to Suburban’s EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway (2WD) – a nearly 10-percent increase in highway mileage over the previous models and 7 percent greater city mileage.

Additionally, a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission is paired with the new 5.3L engine.
