Trinity UMC golf tourney raises $10K for Children’s Miracle Network

Trinity United Methodist presented Children’s Miracle Network with a $10,000 check Wednesday, June 18, at Christus Outpatient Pavillion in Beaumont.

The funds were raised by the Bruce Allred Memorial Golf Tournament, named after Walter Bruce Allred, an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and founder of Golden Triangle Dairy Queen Incorporated, which operated more than 35 Southeast Texas restaurants, employing more than 500 people.

Bruce’s wife, Jan Allred, said her husband, an avid golfer, had an enduring desire to help children, and advocated to do so through a golf tournament benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network.

This vision was realized following his death in 2005, when the church founded the Bruce Allred Memorial Golf Tournament.

“We’re really proud to see how it has grown,” Allred said. “It makes you feel good when you can help somebody — especially the children right here in our own community.”

Since 2006, the tournament has raised more than $67,000 for Children’s Miracle Network and the Lamar University Wesley Foundation
