The ongoing litigation in the Beaumont Independent School District trustee race is not about a racial divide, and it’s not black or white — it’s quite simply a legal strategy to maintain the status quo and maintain the trustees in their current seats.

You might know the lovely narcissus by other names such as daffodil or jonquil. You can count on them to come back year after year, giving you spring flowers from their bulbs. They are native to the meadows and woods in Europe, North Africa and West Asia with great numbers in the Mediterranean’s west side. James M. “Jim” Ferrell Jr., 61, of Port Neches, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. He was born on Feb. 20, 1952, in Houston, and moved to Beaumont in 1963. Ferrell graduated from French High School in 1970 and was the owner of Jim’s Drive In. He later joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1972 until 1976.
