While some blame the economy, competition or technological change for the decline of Microsoft and its flagship operating system Windows, there is no doubt that Microsoft’s current offering, Windows 8, is nowhere even close to meeting its sales projections. This has also hurt others in the industry dependent of the sales of Windows based computers, including manufacturers such as Dell and HP, as well as Intel and other component makers.

The 2013 Chrysler Town & Country offers classic design and a long list of standa

Thirty years ago the Chrysler Group invented the modern minivan in 1983 with the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager. Six years later, the first luxury minivan, the Chrysler Town & Country, debuted in 1989. Seventy-eight minivan-first innovations and 13-million minivan sales later, the company still leads the way.

For almost two years, the BISD board has known the will of the voters is to change from a 7/0 board to a 5/2 method of representation. Not something the majority on the board wanted, for certain, since they probably would lose some seats and certainly their ability to run the district like a monarchy.

From the beginning, their strategy was really quite simple: delay the change as long as possible and flavor the deliberation with well-orchestrated opposition. Next, pull out the race card.

When I taught in Christian school and worked at the church, our many bulletin boards, church publications, and classroom decorations often depicted brightly colored kites, hot air balloons, and steps rising into the air. Our theme was to rise higher, accept challenges, and grow to be the “you” that you had envisioned. Some of us started on an exciting journey but got waylaid and have not had the strength or courage to start again. But as long as there is breath, there is hope.

As the Affordable Care Act is deployed by the federal government, there is more and more anxiety about whether there will be enough primary care providers to take care of all of the new people who will have insurance. Regrettably, the problem might be less severe than previously thought because it now appears that there will be tens of millions who will still be without insurance. One of the solutions to the primary care dilemma is seen in reforming the way physicians are paid.

Americans are a generous people. In times of disaster or crisis, countless Americans have always heeded an internal call to do good and contribute to those in need. The recent terrorism in Boston, which resulted in at least three dead from the bombings, as well as over 170 injured, many losing limbs, has encouraged Americans to open their hearts and wallets to help. Donations are also pouring in to help the family of the murdered MIT campus police officer and a critically wounded Boston Transit officer, allegedly at the hands of the two suspected bombers.

The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

The very first thing I noticed about the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu when it rolled into my driveway was its expressive new look. It carries DNA from its sister vehicles, the Camaro and Corvette, bringing a sporty sensibility to the family sedan segment. A wider stance, broad shoulders and an integrated rear spoiler bring a new athleticism to Malibu. Additionally, the new Malibu has 62-inch front and rear tracks that are more than two inches wider than the model it replaces.

In looking over recently introduced measures in the current session of the State Legislature, I discovered H.B. 1819. The bill was offered by Bryan’s state representative, Kyle Kacal. The bill provides a cause of action if a homeowner harms or kills a goat. Although that seems appropriate for the representative from the area of Texas A&M, I am given to wonder why the Legislature appears to have more concern for animals than it does many of the people of Texas.

Something happened recently that blessed my soul, and I have decided to share it with you in the hope that your heart and mind might be pricked to remember someone that has done something good for you. Just perhaps when the event, act or incident happened, you were too busy, too immature, too troubled, or just too self-centered to think much of it at the time. Maybe you did appreciate the gift, but did not take the necessary time to say thank you to the giving person.

I was one of several presenters at a recent Taylor Career Center Business and Technology Summit. My topic was new computing technologies currently on the market making existing technologies obsolete.
