The average American spends about $1,200 a year on fast food visiting these “restaurants” at least twice a week, spending, on average, $12.50 per meal. Seventy percent of Americans consume fast food up to three times a week, while 7 percent consume it on a daily basis. With that said, it’s time to head back to the drive-thru to see what fast food joints have added to their menus.

Taco Bell is always spicing up its menu, and they have added a new Quesarito called the Cheddar Habanero Quesarito. For $2.49, enjoy season beef, premium Latin rice, melty cheddar cheese, nacho cheese sauce, and reduced-fat sour cream along with creamy habanero sauce that will have you doing the mambo. The new Quesarito is 630-600 calories.

Taco Bell also has quite a variety of drinks to choose from and has recently introduced the Airheads White Mystery Freeze ($1.99, 200 calories). We all know what Airheads are, right? They are chewy candy manufactured by Italian company Perfetti Van Mell, dating back to 1986. Those candies are added to this freezy, snow white treat that Taco Bell says will “overwhelm you” and you will “bemused, baffled and bewildered” as you try to figure out what flavor it is.

Burger King has done it again. Known for their Whopper, BK has introduced Cheetos Chicken Fries ($2.99, 280 calories). The fries are made with white meat chicken like original Chicken Fries, but are covered in a crispy Cheetos-flavored breading and cooked to crispy perfection so that they have a “dangerously” cheesy outside and juicy white meat chicken inside.

Available for dine in or carryout, you’ve probably seen the commercials for the Grilled Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza ($12.99, 400 calories per slice) for a limited time only at Pizza Hut. This new pie features a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses inside the crust and butter, cheese and bread crumbs on the top of the crust. You can also get Bacon Stuffed Crust, as well.

Good ol’ Jack in the Box, which has always served breakfast 24/7, has a new “Brunchfast” menu that will also be available at any time of the day. Ten new items have been added including the Bacon & Egg Chicken Sandwich (648 calories) that comes with crispy all-white meat chicken topped with a fried egg, cheddar cheese, hickory smoked bacon, and creamy bacon mayo sauce on a toasted English muffin.

Then there’s the Brunch Burger — a 100 percent beef patty, topped with a fried egg, cheddar cheese, two slices of hickory smoked bacon and real mayonnaise on a buttery croissant. All together, 770 calories.

How about the Southwest Scrambler (495 calories)? It includes fluffy scrambled eggs, fire roasted peppers, chilies, homestyle potatoes, and melty pepper Jack cheese.

Other items include Orange Cranberry Muffins, Mini Pancakes and Blood Orange Fruit Cooler.

Now through the end of October, Wienerschnitzel is offering Grilled Bratwurst with mustard and onion and mustard and kraut. You can also choose to eat it with their new pretzel bun.

The Flavor of the Month at Baskin-Robbins for October is Trick Oreo Treat Dark (382 calories, 2.5 ounce regular size). It’s chocolate ice cream with orange crème-filled Oreo cookies, Baby Ruth and Butterfinger candy pieces with a dark fudge ribbon.

Also, Baskin-Robbins has teamed up with Dunkin Donuts for the Donut Ice Cream Sandwich, available at Baskin-Robbins (430 calories). Enjoy a soft and fluffy donut from Dunkin Donuts with hot fudge and your favorite flavor of ice cream.

Speaking of Dunkin Donuts and Oreo, for a limited time, try the Oreo Flavored Hot Chocolate.

If that all sounds just way too fattening, Subway has added a new permanent menu item for bread — Multigrain Flatbred. The new flatbread contains chia and flax seeds, with 50 grams of whole grains in each 6-inch sandwich.
