Weekly Dish: 'Next Generation' Salad bar brings healthy new options to Beaumont

An example salad at Salata

Eating healthy is always a challenge. A restaurant needs to not only offer a wide choice of healthy options, but also make it appetizing. Fortunately for the Golden Triangle, Salata, a newly opened salad-focused restaurant in Beaumont, does just that.

Salata is a walk-it-through salad bar, much like Subway or Chipotle, where you follow your order step by step to get it just how you want it. In October 2005, Salata opened in Houston after requests for healthy salads and made-from-scratch ingredients. Berge Simonian brought that hand-cut produce, lean proteins and immense customization to a new building in the parking lot of Parkdale Mall, making it an easy stop for anyone driving around town, whether running Saturday errands or on a lunch break near Dowlen.
