28th annual Cajun Music & Food Festival

The 28th annual Cajun Music & Food Festival will take place Friday, July 17 – Sunday, July 19, in Lake Charles, La., inside the Burton Coliseum. Tickets are $8, and children ages 12 and under get in free. The festival aims to preserve the Cajun traditions and heritage through music, dancing, and food while celebrating the past and building toward the future. Savory Cajun dishes including jambalaya, gumbo, cracklins and more will be in high supply at this event, along with raffles, a live auction, arts and crafts booths, cake walks and games for the kids. The festival will end with a free Cajun mass on Sunday morning at the CFMA Building (3481 E. Prien Lake Road). Festival times are Friday (4-11 p.m.), Saturday (9 a.m. – 11 p.m.) and Sunday (8-10 a.m.). Friday musical performances include Lesa Cormier & The Sundown Playboys (5 p.m.), and Jesse Lege & Joel Savoy (8 p.m.). Saturday’s lineup consists of Lolo Boudoin & Lakeview Playboys (10 a.m.), CFMA Youth Band (12:15 p.m.), Carl Hollier & Crowley Playboys (1:30 p.m.), Chris Miller & Bayou Roots (5 p.m.), Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie (8 p.m.).
