The 39 Steps

The cast and creative team are ready for the summer chills production of Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps at the Alley Theatre, located at 615 Texas Ave. in downtown Houston.

Based on the classic film by Alfred Hitchcock, The 39 Steps is adapted by Patrick Barlow, directed by Mark Shanahan, and runs July 21 – Aug. 20 in the Hubbard Theatre. Tickets start at $26 and are available now at alleytheatre.org.

A mysterious organization “The 39 Steps” is hot on an ordinary man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt after a woman who claimed to be a spy is murdered. What follows is an exhilarating mix of Hitchcock masterpiece, juicy spy novel intrigue, and a dash of Monty Python madcap in a fast-paced whodunit perfect for all ages.

Director and Alley veteran Mark Shanahan (Hand to God, Around the World in 80 Days) returns to direct Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps at the Alley.

The 39 Steps was previously released in 1935 by Hitchcock and the British Film Institute ranked it the fourth best British film of the 20th century. It went on to theatre at the West End and Broadway that premiered in 2005.

Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
