Centennial Masquerade Gala

Centennial Masquerade Gala

There is still time to purchase tickets to the Centennial Masquerade Gala celebrating the American Red Cross of Southeast and Deep East Texas’ 100 year anniversary on Saturday, May 20, at the MCM Eleganté Hotel in Beaumont.

The celebration will feature a social hour beginning at 6 p.m. where custom glass commemorative flutes will be available with unlimited champagne refills as well as the “Red Centennial Martini” available for $25 with a chance to win a diamond necklace donated from Mathews Jewelers. There will also be a silent auction featuring a variety of items, live auction of a commemorative Red Cross custom quilt and mystery bags for purchase that will include a gift valued at $50 or more.

Some of the original chapter founders and charter members will be honored including the Stark, Brown, McFaddin-Ward, Chambers and Malloy families. There will also be a documentary video shared with interviews of Red Cross volunteers, clients and staff that will span the organization’s lifesaving work over the past century.

The after-party gets rolling with a chance to dance to the exciting jazz tunes of the Copa Kings from Austin. Formed out of a desire to breathe new life into some of the great jazz standards of the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s, the band brings a unique passion, artistry and flair to the jazz music of this period.

Led by vocalist Billy Murphy and arranger/pianist Rob Greenfield, the Copa Kings pay homage to some of the country’s greatest jazz songwriters and performers, including Frank, Billie, Ella, Louis and Ray.

The event will commemorate “100 Years of Service” by the disaster-relief organization that has been providing assistance during times of need such as hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and home fires; as well as support to the military through the “Service to the Armed Forces” leg of the organization. 2017 marks a yearlong Centennial Celebration that will recognize the organization’s many accomplishments, as well as its future plans for making communities stronger and more resilient in the next 100 years.

Currently the chapter serves 11 counties including Angelina, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby and Tyler and is part of the Texas Gulf Coast Region.

“For the local chapter of the American Red Cross to have been around for 100 years speaks to the impact of this program,” said Kari Fenner, of the Red Cross. “This gala will be an opportunity for the community to celebrate the work of this organization and to thank the people in the community, including donors and volunteers, who have made our life-saving work possible.”

Tickets are $150 and can be purchased by calling (409) 782-9121. Dress is Black/Red tie or Masquerade attire.
