Classic movie Night & Foreign Film Series

If you attended The Godfather on Classic Movie Night on July 14, then don’t miss the Friday, July 21 showing of The Godfather Part II. The 1974 film directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola is both the sequel and prequel to The Godfather and keeps most of the same cast including Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton and Robert De Niro. Many critics proclaimed the sequel was better than the first movie.

The movie depicts the early life and career of Vito Corleone in 1920s New York. And later, his son Michael expands and tightens his grip on the family crime syndicate.

The Godfather Part II is 3 hours and 22 minutes and is Rated R.

The Foreign Film Series continues on Wednesday, July 26 with the 1992 Mexican Film Like Water for Chocolate.

The youngest daughter in her family, the beautiful Tita, is forbidden to marry her true love, Pedro. Since tradition dictates that Tita must care for her mother, Pedro weds her older sister, Rosaura, though he still loves Tita. The situation creates much tension in the family, and Tita’s powerful emotions begin to surface in fantastical ways through her cooking. As the years pass, unusual circumstances test the enduring love of Pedro and Tita.

The movie (1:45, Rated R) earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
