Clint Black & Dwight Yoakam

The Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont is set to host two big country music acts beginning Thursday, Aug. 4, with Clint Black, followed by Dwight Yoakam on Friday, Aug. 19.

Black, who was raised in nearby Katy, will have his entire band on the “On Purpose” comeback tour, which will feature songs off his 10th studio album, On Purpose. “To me, it’s only a ‘comeback’ in that I’m putting out something new,” says the award-winning singer-songwriter. “As someone who has never stopped working, I don’t see me as having gone away, as I tour extensively, write and produce for television, films as well as other artists.”

On the new record is the song “You Still Get to Me,” which marks Black’s third duet single with his wife, Lisa Hartman Black.

A member of the Grand Ole Opry, Black, now 54, has sold more than 20 million albums with 22 No. 1 singles. His debut album in 1989 titled Killin’ Time led to five straight No. 1 tracks including “A Better Man” and “Killin’ Time.” Other popular hits are “Put Yourself in My Shoes,” “We Tell Ourselves,” “No Time to Kill,” “Half the Man.” “When Our Ship Comes In” and “Nothin’ But the Taillights.”
