In the Dark: New Spielberg journalism movie couldn't have come at a better time

Watching this made me wonder what venerable journalist and editor Ben Bradlee would make of the current climate for his profession. Terms like “fake news” would be an anathema to a man like Bradley, who based his reputation and that of the Washington Post on telling the truth — or in many cases, speaking truth to power. Few did it better than Bradley, who passed away in 2014.

This new movie based on the Pentagon Papers leak feels like an old one. You can almost smell the smoke from all the cigarettes Bradlee and his reporters are smoking like it was their second job. And watching the linotype machines being loaded by hand is a lesson in the dedication it took to produce a daily newspaper in that era...
