Let’s take a trip back to the 80s, 1983 to be exact. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the pop culture phenomenon of Flashdance is now live on stage. With electrifying dance at its core, Flashdance The Musical will take the stage at the Lutcher Theater in Orange on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. 

You can purchase tickets to the show at the Lutcher box office, online at lutcher.org for $65-$45 or you can turn back time by and show us your best 80s picture on The Examiner Facebook page for your chance to win one of three prize packages. 

The grand prize winner will receive four tickets to the show, a limousine ride to and from the Luther in style via Sun Travel and enjoy hors d’oeuvres by Green Light Café. Second and third place winners will receive two sets of tickets to the performance. 

Flashdance The Musical tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day and a bar dancer by night with dreams of one day becoming a professional performer. When romance with her steel mill boss threatens to complicate her ambitions, Alex learns the meaning of love and its power to fuel the pursuit of her dream. 

The musical features a score that includes the biggest hit songs from the movie, including the Academy Award-winning title song “Flashdance — What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria,” “Manhunt,” and “I Love Rock & Roll.” In addition to these hits, 16 brand new songs have been written for the musical with music by Robbie Roth and lyrics by Robert Cary and Roth.
