National Dance Day

The fourth annual National Dance Day not only has a new date, but new location as well. What’s Happening Orange County? and The Hub will present National Dance Day in Southeast Texas on Saturday, July 29, from 9 a.m. – noon at the downtown Beaumont Civic Center (701 Main), and it’s free to attend.

“We are moving indoors,” said Penny LeLeux, organizer of the local event. “The last two years, the July heat has been brutal.”

The goal has always been to draw dance enthusiasts from all around Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana

Attending this year as a special guest is Barclay Stockett, the newest sensation on the television show American Ninja Warrior on NBC. She recently competed on team Iron Grip and qualified in the Top 30 for the city finals in San Antonio. Stockett will be joining last year’s guest Lauren Froderman — winner of Season 7 So You Think You Can Dance.

“Lauren … is amazing,” said LeLeux. “Amazing not just in the way she dances, but also how she was with the kids. She is a terrific dance instructor. The kids loved her.”

Dance classes with Froderman will be available after lunch for $60, which also includes a meet and greet with Stockett. The beginner class is 1:30-2:30 p.m. The advance class is 2:45-3:45 p.m. and cost is $75.

Froderman will also host a program from 4-5:30 p.m. titled “Lauren at Sunset” that consists of Q&A and photo opportunity. Tickets are $35.
