The Ten Tenors
Internationally acclaimed singing sensation The Ten Tenors celebrate Broadway’s greatest hits in their hugely anticipated brand new show, The Ten Tenors on Broadway, on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lutcher Theater. Tickets are $55, $50, $45 or $40 and can be purchased online at lutcher. org or by calling (409) 886-5535.
This dynamic live experience is a wonderful collection of Broadway’s most-loved classics sung by 10 of Australia’s hottest tenors. Fans will be delighted by this powerful mix of theatrical showstoppers and heart-melting ballads as The Ten Tenors break new ground and take on some of the greatest show tunes in the world.
The incredible Australian troupe lend their ever-popular flair and individuality to a repertoire showcasing the best of Broadway, including “Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha, “Music of the Night” of Phantom of the Opera and “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables.
Continuing from their hugely successful world tour and latest album Double Platinum plus their appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, their new Broadway spectacular for the 2014 season is yet another world-class production for the home-grown heroes, who have sold more than 3.5 million concert tickets world wide and return to the Lutcher after their hit 2008 performance in Orange.
The Ten Tenors’ unique approach to opera brings them adoration, respect and continually pushes the boundaries of the classical crossover genre, and the group’s producer, D.J. Wendt, says this electrifying new show is no exception.
“The On Broadway show is the best yet for the group, and they are thrilled to be performing such entertaining and powerful repertoire,” he said. “The guys always leave an enduring presence wherever they perform, but I guarantee the On Broadway show will be leaving the audience coming back for more.”
Australia’s “Rock Stars of the Opera” have played all over the globe from South America, Sweden, Japan and the Baltic states
What was once known as a group of university friends who banded together for extra beer money during their studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music has powered through 14 years on the international stage, morphing into a troupe of road warriors.
The TEN Tenors respectfully tip their hats to their classical roots and share with audiences, unique renditions of the genre’s best love pieces, but they also push the boundaries of what it means to be a tenor and to sit in the classical genre in today’s world. Taking cues from some of music’s most courageous contemporary artists such as Freddy Mercury and Meatloaf, The Ten, see rock opera as not only a way of keeping their show fresh and reaching new audiences, but also appealing to the myriad of musical preferences a 10-piece musical act shares.
