The Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts is in the midst of hosting “Steel Magnolias” for three shows this weekend beginning Friday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. and two on Saturday, April 15, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Written by Robert Harling as a play, “Steel Magnolias” made its Off-Broadway debut in 1987 then was adapted as a big screen release in 1989 starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirly MacLaine, Julia Roberts and Daryl Hannah. It finally made its Broadway debut in 2005 at the Lyceum Theatre.

Classic Movie Night goes “classic” with one of the most iconic films in movie history — The Wizard of Oz — on Friday, April 7, at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Based of the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, the movie was released in 1939 and stars Judy Garland as Dorothy, who gets swept away from her farm in Kansas by a tornado to the fantasy land of Oz. While there, she meets new friends the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow as she makes her way to see the Wizard to find a way back home.
