Viva Fest

The City of Beaumont is hosting a multi-day Hispanic heritage celebration on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, at the Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Viva Fest will kickoff the festivities on May 13 with live music by Sandy G y los Gavilanes followed by the movie Frida. Ticket are $5 for May 13.


Beaumont Community Players will host six productions of Rent: The Musical on the McFaddin-Ward Auditorium stage inside the Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts (4155 Laurel Ave.) on May 13-14 and May 19-21. Show times are 7:30 p.m. each night with a matinee May 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $40 (cabaret seats), $25 (adults) or $23 (65 years and older, students 21 and younger).

Dr. Paul and Connie Suzch

A dinner recognizing Connie and Dr. Paul J. Szuch, president of Lamar Institute of Technology, on the occasion of his retirement, and the 10th anniversary of his dedication to Lamar Institute of Technology students and the community, will be held Thursday, May 12, at 6 p.m. at Courville’s, 1744 Rose Lane, Beaumont.

AMSET – Treasure auction

Classic Movie Night

Classic Movie Night resumes with the 1999 documentary film Buena Vista Social Club on Tuesday, May 10 at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5. Beer, wine and other concessions will be available. The Jefferson Theatre is located at 345 Fannin.

Artist Avril Falgout

Artist Avril Falgout will present an exhibition of her paper maché sculptures at The Art Studio, Inc. beginning Saturday, May 7, with a reception from 7-10 p.m. The show, which runs through May 27, is her reward for winning TASIMJAE 2015, The Studio’s membership show.

The Symphony of Southeast Texas

The Symphony of Southeast Texas (SOST) invites you to get to know some of your orchestra musicians at “SOST On the Town” at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Edison Plaza Lobby. This second annual concert experience takes the musicians out of the concert hall for an evening of great music, tasty treats from Green Light Kitchen and an added Mexican flair for a festive evening.

31st Annual Texas Crab Fest

With an exciting music lineup, fun contests and events all weekend long, get ready to get down and get crabby Gulf Coast style in Crystal Beach as the 31st annual Texas Crab Fest kicks off with big flavor, big entertainment and big fun this Mother’s Day weekend, running Friday, May 6, through Sunday, May 8, at Gregory Park (2292 Highway 87). Costs is $10 per person on Friday and Saturday, and free on Sunday.
