The Gig on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont will come alive Saturday, March 26, when Grammy nominated blues musician Tab Benoit performs along with special guests Mike Zito and Scott McGill, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at outhousetickets.com or area Florida Tans. Ages 18 and up are welcome. From Houma, Louisiana, the 46 year-old Benoit recorded his first album in 1993 and went on to win two B.B.

Orange and the surrounding region were hit hard by the recent flooding, and the Stark Cultural Venues know many of their neighbors are deeply affected by this disaster and remain out of their homes. As the community attempts to assess the impact of flooding and begin recovery efforts, the Stark Foundation is reopening — with free admission — Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center and the Stark Museum of Art through Saturday, March 26.

The W.H. Stark House will reopen Tuesday, March 29, at 9 a.m.

The Southeast Texas Arts Council and Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce to present The Example, a short film produced by CGL Studios, LLC & G Sharp Productions, which will premiere Saturday, March 26, inside the Jefferson Theatre (345 Fannin) in downtown Beaumont at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or at the venue.

The City of Beaumont’s Jazz at the Lake series kicks off this month with the Lamar University Cardinal Jazz Orchestra and the Jimmy Simmons Quintet. The free concert takes place Thursday, March 24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Downtown Event Centre (700 Crockett).

It’s not saying much when the best movie I’ve seen so far in 2016 is “Deadpool”—and that was weeks ago. What was more memorable than the show was the theater itself. The new iPic theater in Houston is one amazing place, beginning with the seats. Not seats really, more like your own personal lounger complete with pillow and blanket. But it doesn’t come cheap.

Just about anything you can think of to eat is available from more than 75 food vendors at the 73rd annual South Texas State Fair on the grounds of Ford Park, which begins Thursday, March 24, with the 11-day festival of fun ending Sunday, April 3.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. next Thursday and there is literally something for everyone. Some come for the food. Some come for the games, carnival rides, exhibits, live music and the rodeo.
