The Fourth of July weekend is upon us, and many will be hosting or attending backyard barbeques. While some of the grill masters will be working and preparing different meats, links and brisket, there are plenty of extras you can add to your patriotic party that will have your friends posting photos on Facebook and Instagram.

The Ruxpins

The Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting its annual “Celebrate Independence Day” on Monday, July 4, beginning at 7 p.m. with a live concert from the local Americana rock act The Ruxpins at the Riverfront Pavilion.

At 9 p.m. an unbelievable fireworks show will light up the Orange sky. The event is free and there will be plenty of kids events, snow cones, drinks and more. No pets are allowed.

New Mexico based acoustic trio Honeyhouse will perform at the Sunset Grove Country Club (2900 W. Sunset Drive) in Orange on Thursday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and there will be a cash bar.

Platinum recording rock band Third Eye Blind will perform at the Liquid Society Party by the Pool concert series at L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles on Thursday, June 30, with gates opening at 7 p.m. Tickets for the 21-and-older show are $25 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com. They will be $35 at the gate. From San Francisco, the band formed in 1993 and the lineup still consists of original vocalist Stephan Jenkins and drummer Brad Hargreaves.

Local independent wrestling organization Hurricane Pro Wrestling returns to the Beaumont Civic Center on Saturday, June 25. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Titled “Evolved,” Hurricane Pro will have five matches headlined by HPW champion Danny Ramons defending the title against Ashton Jacobs. Finally the sequel to the beloved (and super popular) animated feature “Finding Nemo.” It’s a mystery why we had to wait so long considering some fish products begin to ripen after a few days — and not in a good way. It’s been 13 years since we’ve checked in with Marlin and Nemo, the father and son clown fish duo, and little Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) the blue tang fish, with the short-term memory issue.

The Port Arthur Public Library and the African American Cultural Society will host a screening of the historical fiction short film “The Example,” on Thursday, June 23, at the Port Arthur Library Gallery, 4615 Ninth Ave., Port Arthur, at 6 p.m. The event is free to the public.
