As much as I dislike horror movies, I can’t object to an old-fashioned fright, and there are plenty of seat-jumping moments in this throwback to the good old days of scary movies. There is nary a drop of blood spilled in this, not to mention the merciful overall lack of gore. This is one of those movies that plays with your mind instead of grossing you out. Every time a door creaks open or a candle blows out it telegraphs what is to follow, giving you just enough time to steel yourself before something jumps out — in good old 2-D.

The plight of Sackboy, the main character in Sony’s LittleBigPlanet2 video game, rated E for everyone and available on the PlayStation3, is simple but brilliant.

Last Friday night I was intrigued to observe a dozen 9 and 10 year old boys and girls sort through a massive collection of video games and cooperatively decide to play just one – Wii Sports Resort. This game has been in our covey of CDs for several years, and it’s one of my 10-year-olds favorites. Actually, it’s one of my favorites, too, but oddly, I’ve never reviewed it. Perhaps it’s just so familiar to me that I assumed it is to everyone else, as well.

The inspiring story of the Tuskegee Airmen is one that should have been told long before now. The only major treatment it has received was an HBO movie in 1995 called “The Tuskegee Airmen,” that was until George Lucas, the creator of the “Star Wars” series, decided to take it up as a personal cause.
