Lamar University’s acclaimed Lamarissimo! Concert Series continues Thursday, March 7, as the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band perform classic symphonic selections by Edvard Greig and Leonard Bernstein, and premieres an original composition in honor of Wayne Dyess, longtime director of jazz studies at Lamar, who died Feb. 27.

The Dixie Dance Hall on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont has quite a history. The building once housed the notorious Dixie Hotel where Madam Rita Ainsworth ran her brothel, and now, the historic country saloon is about to get a rock music makeover — at least for a night.

How could you go wrong with Linkin Park? What about Incubus? The Cynthia Mitchell Woodlands Pavilion, north of Houston, hosted the 2012 Honda Civic Tour on Aug. 28, 2012, with headliners Linkin Park, who played nearly two-dozen songs. Brilliant move.

Due to traffic problems, we missed Incubus and openers MuteMath.
