Nashville rockers RED are returning to Houston to play Warehouse Live on Friday, May 3 and due to a high ticket demand, the all-ages show has been moved into the main ballroom with doors opening at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14 and can be purchased at the venue or online at warehousemusic.com.
The EDM is in full swing but one group has etched out their own mark in the genre — French quartet Dirtyphonics. Their “Irreverence Tour”comes to Houston on April 19 at Stereo Live in support of their first full debut record Irreverence on fellow musician’s Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records.
Lamar University’s acclaimed Lamarissimo! Concert Series continues Thursday, March 7, as the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band perform classic symphonic selections by Edvard Greig and Leonard Bernstein, and premieres an original composition in honor of Wayne Dyess, longtime director of jazz studies at Lamar, who died Feb. 27.
The Dixie Dance Hall on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont has quite a history. The building once housed the notorious Dixie Hotel where Madam Rita Ainsworth ran her brothel, and now, the historic country saloon is about to get a rock music makeover — at least for a night.
