2018 Family Portrait Luncheon sells out at the Eleganté

Albert Nolen

Luncheon of love … Recently the Alzheimer’s Association hosted the 2018 Family Portrait Luncheon at the MCM Eleganté to a sold-out crowd. Elizabeth Waddill and Ashley Messina co-chaired this uplifting event. When this dynamic duo was asked to lead the charge for this year’s fundraiser, they wanted Mark K. Shriver, president of the Save the Children Action Network and senior vice president of U.S. Programs at Save the Children, as well as respected author of the bestselling memoir A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sargent Shriver. Mark K. Shriver was both entertaining and inspiring with his wonderful remembrance of a brilliant man and father, who dealt with Alzheimer’s during his later years, and even with this crippling disease was able to impart words of wisdom and thought to his children. Another huge and stirring part of the luncheon was honoring of the Brooke Burgher Gibbs family for all this beloved angel’s involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association after her grandmother was diagnosed with the disease. Lindsay Ramey and Shelly Vitanza did an outstanding job or emceeing and orchestrating this well attended fundraiser. Kudos to Heather Petkovsek for arranging the beautiful recycled flowers on the tables and around the room. Tearful and beaming with pride at the same time were Tracy Gibbs, Tiffany and Brian Burgher, Lindsay and Shelby Gibbs, Patty Gibbs as Brook Gibbs was honored. Thrilled with this year’s luncheon were Maris Mehaffy, Ann Hayes, Rosemary Asta, Virginia Austin, Cindi Battaglia, Cathy Zummo, Hester Bell, Monica Broussard, Amy Maloney, Cynthia Wolf, Donna Oberle, Laurie and Bart Umphrey, Ashley Colgan, Tootsie Crutchfield, Jo Vance, Crissy Darling, Joy Crenshaw, Gina Crenshaw, Kristi Dodd, Linda Domino, Shelley Tortorice, Meredith Ducote, Shelley Duke, Carolyn Fertitta, Ashley and Joe Fisher, Sarah Frasher, Lee Ann Garth, Susan Byrom, Kim Giglio, Allison Gilbert, Kimberly Goodson, Margaret Green, Marilyn Gripon, Melanle Hall, Carol Hearn, Courtney Horton, Jo Beth Jenkins, Miriam Johnson, Joellyn Jowers, Laurie Kent, Sharen Kirksey, Christi Lawdermilk, JoRita and Steve Lyle, Tara Maddox, Jennifer Maida, Christina Majdalani, Lisa Mathews, Gigi Mazzola, Susan and Roger McCurry, Susan Margolis, Mary Beth Messina, Madelyln Messina, Bel Morian, Camille Mouton, Kay Nichols, Cheri and Gerard Parigi, Hannah Persia, Ivy Pate, Kim and Dade Phelan, Mattie Phelan, Connie and Milt Prewitt, Kathy and Gary Reeves, Regina Rogers, Dottie Schulz, Hillary Shanning, Elaine Shellenberger, Karen and Bill Shephred, Kim Steinhagen, Gerri Talbot, Kathleen Teare, Dean Terrebonne, Ann Thompson, Russ Waddill, Mary Williams, Casey Winslow, Anne Winslow, Michael Wolf, Karen Wortham, Baylor Wortham, Peggy and Juan Zabala and too many more to mention.
