Celebrities show their style for the Arc

Star-studded show … Many of the Stars of the Arc Celebrity Style Show participants were glowing as they made their way down the runway while proud parents, friends and guests encouraged them with rounds of applause. The highlight of evening was the presentation of six prestigious awards by emcees Kelli and Bob Phillips. Recipients of these awards wereBecky Ames, Coffy Pieternelle, Sara Leonard, Matthew Bloodsworth, Kirksey’s Sprint Printing and Cindy Bloodsworth. The delicious dinner was appreciated by all, and kudos go to co-chairs Toye Babb and Sandy Drake for all their planning and hard work making sure the Arc of Greater Beaumont fundraiser was once again a smashing success!

Attention shoppers … Plug Friday, July 15, into your smart phone calendar for the gigantic Art Museum of Southeast Texas gARTage pre-sale dinner on Friday, June 15. This unique shopping extravaganza blends an art sale with a garage sale and barbecue dinner for just $35 per person for members and $45 per person for non-members including a cash wine and beer bar. A large selection of original art and home décor will be for sale. You won’t see this stuff elsewhere. In addition, AMSET will be offering several high-quality items in a silent auction. On Saturday, July 16, from 7 to 11 a.m., the gARTage sale will be free and open to the general public. If anyone is interested in donating, the museum will gladly accept your tax-deductible charitable donation of artwork and home décor items from Monday, July 11, through Thursday, July 14. Graduation day … Lamar University conferred 1,528 degrees during spring commencement ceremonies this past Saturday, July 14, in the Montagne Center. Distinguished alumnus Paul Fregia, founder and president of Grandma Maud’s Inc., addressed graduates at 9:30 a.m. for the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Engineering, and in the 1:30 p.m. ceremony for the Colleges of Education and Human Development, Fine Arts and Communication, and Center for General Studies. Graduates hailed from 18 countries, 17 states outside Texas and 302 cities and towns in Texas.
