Date auction gets the money flowing

Sold out success … Madison’s on Dowlen was the place to be last Wednesday night, Sept. 12, for the fourth annual Ubi Caritas Date Auction as about 25 lovely young ladies and youthful gentleman took the stage before a crowd eager to do their bidding. Chairs Samantha Richards and Traci Coleman were thrilled at this year’s proceedings from both the silent and live auction. Raising their paddles were Kathy and Joey Catalano, Taryn and Henry Hebert, Vince Duplissy, Cindy and Michael Yohe, Lauren Lewis, Patrice Thibodeaux–Seelke, Nicole Kavaspour, Vivian Todd, Monica and Jarred DeMore, Katie and Robert Martin, Marc McDonald, Vic Reyna, Fred Bebeau, Kathy Cleveland, Dana Johnson, David Red and too many more to mention. A great success for a terrific cause — the only full-time clinic in the Beaumont area dedicated exclusively to serving the uninsured!

All things that glitter … Friends of the Triangle AIDS Network will “Paint the Town Silver” to honor TAN’s 25 years of service to Southeast Texas at their annual gala on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Beaumont Country Club. This elegant evening of art, auctions, entertainment, dancing and fine dining is the major annual fundraiser to benefit TAN. The silver-anniversary celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a champagne reception, hors d’oeuvres and silent auction. The live auction begins at 7:15 p.m., with a buffet at 8 p.m. The silent auction features art, fashions, furnishings, party and entertainment packages and more. Proceeds support client services and educational efforts of TAN. Reservations are $85 per person or $1,200 for “Dress Circle Seating” at a premium table for eight. Hard to say goodbye … Board members of Anayat House hosted a shrimp boil in honor of Pat Coldewey’s hard work and dedication as Anayat House director. Wine and appetizers as well as the tasty crustaceans were served to guests in the wonderful home of Michele and Mitch Smith. Singing the honoree’s praises and wishing her well on her retirement were board president Hubert Oxford IV and new director Bel Lamb, as well as Bill Darling, Allison Getz, Cathy and Steve Shoemaker, Brandi and Corby Crawford, Adrienne Ryherd and David Dishman, Patty Burmeister, Soheila and Sina Nejad, Mallory Foster and Zack Wendel, Janet Daniels Houston, Susanne and Bob Birdwell, Saeed Daniali, Michael McCord, Larry Johnson, Mary Ellen and Denny Robertson, Georgia and Phil Dunlap, Sammy Davis, and Elizabeth and Daniel Wetzel. A well deserved tribute to an outstanding and caring lady!

Two by two … The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) presents Espoused, a vibrant group exhibition on view Sept 22 through Jan. 6 featuring 36 contemporary Texas artists who are partners either in marriage, as significant others or as a collaborative team. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at AMSET. The artists whose work will be featured include Shannon andWilliam Cannings, Jerolyn Bahm-Colombik andRoger Colombik, Elizabeth Akamatsu andPiero Fenci, Suzanne Bloom andEd Hill, Linda Ridgway andHarry Geffert, Letitia andSedrick Huckaby, Janet Chafee andBenito Huerta, Carter Ernst andPaul Kittelson, Corinne andCharles Jones, Cathy Cunningham-Little andKen Little, Liza andLee Littlefield, Joan Batson andBert L.
