Gear up for Christmas at Main Street Market
A-marketing we will go … The Junior League of Beaumont will once again host Main Street Market beginning Thursday, Dec. 1, and running through Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Beaumont Civic Center. Girls Night Out will kickoff this year’s fab finds on Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. with wonderful holiday shopping, a style show, live entertainment by the Kay Miller Trio and a chance to win a diamond necklace graciously donated by Mathews Jewelers. General admission tickets priced at $5 are good for the entire Market. On Friday, the Market hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the highlight event will be the Holiday Luncheon honoring Michele Smith starting at 11 a.m. with style show from Bella Bella. Saturday’s activities begin at 10 a.m. with holiday shopping and live entertainment with a children’s workshop and pictures with Santa high on the Christmas list. The workshop will feature gingerbread houses, reindeer food, letters to Santa and a photo op with the jolly ol’ guy. Mark your calendars for an exciting shopping extravaganza while benefiting a wonderful community-oriented organization.
Beck-worthy … Chelsea Barnard of Port Neches and Elisabeth Maxwell of Beaumont have been chosen as the 2012 recipients of Lamar University’s most prestigious undergraduate award, the David J. Beck Fellowship. This is the first time in the four-year history of the fellowship that two David J. Beck Fellows have been chosen in a single year and the first time that a student has been selected twice. Maxwell also is the 2011 David J. Beck Fellow. President Jimmy Simmons presented Barnard and Maxwell with engraved medallions and certificates. Each student will receive a full scholarship for one year, including tuition, fees, books and on-campus room and board and funding to pursue a summer project proposed as part of their application packet. Congratulations!

News of I do’s … Hannah Persia and William Elliott said their I do’s this last week with a stunning poolside wedding attended by family and close friends. Congrats to one of my favorite couples!
