TAN stirs it up secret-agent style

I spy ... Friends of the Triangle AIDS Network will host "Paint the Town Red: Shaken, Not Stirred" on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Beaumont Country Club. The gala - featuring art, auctions, entertainment, dancing and fine dining - is the major annual fundraiser to benefit TAN. This year, an "Evening of International Intrigue" will play homage to James Bond and other famed spies, sleuths and secret agents. Festivities begin with a champagne reception, hors d'oeuvres and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. The live auction begins at 7:15 p.m. with a buffet at 8 p.m., and the live auction will resume after dinner. The silent auction features items donated by celebrities, along with art, fashions, jewelry, furnishings, party and entertainment packages and more. Proceeds support client services and educational efforts of TAN. Reservations are $80 per person ($800 per table of 10) or $1,000 for "Dress Circle Seating" at a premium table for eight. Fun run ... CASA of Southeast Texas Inc. invites the community to assist in helping abused and neglected children by participating in the annual Casas for CASA 5k Run and Playhouse/Makeover Raffle. Packet pickup for the 5k run will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 15 at Jason's Deli on Dowlen Road. The run will be on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 8 a.m. Playhouses are displayed at Parkdale Mall from Oct. 16 through Oct. 23. Raffle tickets for one of five playhouses are $2 and the drawing will be at noon Oct. 23 at Parkdale Mall. Only 200 raffle tickets will be sold for $100 each for the makeover package and the winning ticket will be drawn Oct. 23 at noon at Parkdale Mall. A tail-waggin' time ... The beautiful weather this past Saturday brought out tons of canines and their owners for Dogtober Fest 2010. It was a wonderful family day for pet owners and their well behaved furry friends. A big woof woof to Brian Hampton, Carolyn Howard and Sheree Pierce, who did an incredible job orchestrating this fun-filled day for our community. Seen enjoying the day were Dana Babineaux, Jan Giraurd, Marc McDoanld, Liz and Charles Howell, Marty Craig, Marilyn and Tom Bell, Sissy Coffin, Jean Moncla, Lindsay Wortham, Barbara Quinn, Carol Snowden, Judy Dishman, Guy Goodson and too many more to mention.

Shop 'til you drop ... Saturday, Oct. 16, Anayat House will get help from Macy's "Shop for a Cause," a shopping day benefiting local nonprofit organizations. Passes purchased for a $5 donation allow shoppers to receive coupons for up to 25 percent off and the chance to win a $500 gift card. Artistic event ... An opening reception for art exhibition Sedrick Huckaby: From Earth to Heaven will be held this Friday, Oct. 15, at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas from 6 to 8 p.m.

Turn back time ... After a visit to the Big Easy with Rodin and Field experts, social consultants Nancy Neild, Suzy Junker, Jennifer Swantner, Mindy Eisen, Cindy Beall, Ellen Petit and Rachael Roane are thrilled about a new "anti-aging" process. The ladies spent the weekend educating themselves about a cutting edge anti-aging technology just revealed by the world renowned developers of Pro Active. Along with partners Tammy Crutchfield and Stephanie Fears, the ladies took a day to explain the new process to Beaumont Junior League members and will be glad to share their findings with any interested parties.

News of I do's ... Sally Edmonson Tyndall and David Bradley Earwood exchanged wedding vows this past Saturday evening at Saint Anne Catholic Church and were honored at a southern wedding reception at the Beaumont Country Club. Congrats!
