The Subaru Legacy has been completely redesigned for 2015, delivering an impressive blend of style, refinement and fuel efficiency. With a starting MSRP of $21,695, the 2015 Subaru is available in eight exterior colors and four models: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited.

Interior features

With nearly the same exterior footprint as the previous Legacy, the 2015 model offers the largest cabin space in the midsize segment, at 104.6 cubic feet (up from 103 cubic feet). The added space yields gains in shoulder, hip and legroom. Rear-seat legroom measures a generous 38.1 inches. The trunk has been enlarged to 15.0 cubic feet, up slightly from 14.7 cubic feet for the 2014 model.

Additionally, the 2015 model is the best-equipped Legacy ever with a combination of new soft-touch materials and trim lines. Notably, the Limited trims offer the highest level of luxury ever in this model with its premium look and feel.

Offering a choice of 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder Boxer engines, the 2015 Subaru Legacy comes standard with the Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

The 2015 Legacy 2.5i is powered by a double-overhead-cam (DOHC) FB series 2.5-liter BOXER engine — power is increased slightly to 175 horsepower versus 173 horsepower before. Peak torque remains at 174 foot-pounds.

Fuel economy for the 2015 Legacy 2.5i averages 26 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway and 30 mpg combined. Consequently, the 2015 Legacy 2.5i matches or exceeds fuel economy of some front-wheel drive midsize sedans.

Additionally, with the 2015 Legacy, Subaru continues to offer a 6-cylinder model in the midsize sedan segment. The 3.6-liter Boxer engine produces 256 horsepower and 247 foot-pounds of peak torque. The 6-cylinder Legacy 3.6R Limited also sees fuel economy improve by 10 percent, with new estimated ratings of 20 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg combined.
