Beginning Monday, March 13, at 7:00 a.m., Edson Drive from North Circuit Drive to Gladys Avenue will be closed for rehab. The work is expected to last until Friday, March 17 at 5 p.m., City of Beaumont administrative assistant Rosanna Mojica said in a release.

On Saturday, March 11, at 11:22 p.m. Beaumont Police officers were working an accident in the 7900 block of Walden Road. A marked Beaumont Police patrol unit was parked unoccupied when a white ford F-150 failed to control speed and collided with the unit, Officer Cody Guedry reported March 12.

A free Hebrew class meets every Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the community room at the R.C. Miller Memorial Library in Beaumont. New students can join at any time.

The class, which has 10 to 12 regular students, is taught by Lamar chemical engineering professor Rafi Tadmor and Arlene Pippin, former volunteer at the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem.

Beginners learn days of the week, numbers, colors and parts of the body and practice writing the Hebrew alphabet on their first day.

“It’s more like a study group,” Pippin said.
