After several weeks without a burn ban in place, Orange County will go back to fire-free as of this past Monday, Oct. 3. County Emergency Management Director Jeff Kelley told Commissioners Court that he checked with fire departments in the county and fire calls had not been out of the ordinary the week prior, but an overview of the county’s level of fire threat is back in the red meaning a ban is back in order.

A group of local philanthropists hoping to bring awareness to the growing problem of Alzheimer’s disease want Southeast Texans to know there is a place to turn for help.

After battling a blaze Thursday evening, the Beaumont Fire Department says the cause of the fire was a child playing with a lighter. Around 6 p.m. Sept. 29, firefighters responded to a residence fire on Broadway and found the two-story home engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
