The YWCA of Beaumont is hosting a fall gala titled “Military Women Committed to Service” on Friday, Nov. 30, at the Event Centre at 700 Crockett St. in Beaumont. Celebrity author, entrepreneur and former Essence magazine editor Dr. Susan Taylor will be the featured guest. Honorees at the event are local women who serve or have served in the military, or women who have been pillars of service in the community. Soloists Cecelia Chaisson and Cheryl Lewis will perform at the gala event.

Boys’ Haven showed its appreciation for supporters Saturday, Nov. 10, at the facility’s outdoor pavilion with a musical celebration, motivational presentation and exposition of great feats of strength from Team Intense of Intense Ministries. Foster children from a number of area facilities including Buckner Children and Family Services in Beaumont joined the Boys’ Haven group.
