A string of pharmacy burglaries along the I-10 corridor has the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers requesting the public’s assistance in solving the crimes. Family Pharmacy, 207 East Railroad, China was burglarized in the early hours of Wednesday, Dec. 17. Deputies responded to an alarm and upon arrival they found that entry had been made into the building via the front door. The thieves appeared to have targeted the pharmacy removing a quantity of narcotic medications. This burglary is similar to a burglary that occurred on the previous day, Dec.

Detectives are still working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting of a 35-year-old Beaumont man on Jan. 31, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

Beaumont Police Narcotics Unit, along with the assistance of the department's S.W.A.T. team, Special Assignment Unit, K-9 Unit, and The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, executed a search warrant Jan. 30 that resulted in the seizure of a variety of narcotics and weapons, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

Fire on Youngstown Street

Firefighters in Beaumont made short work of dousing a residential fire on the morning of Feb. 4, according to a news release from Beaumont Fire Rescue.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a structure fire in the 3800 block of Youngstown Street reported by multiple callers. Upon arrival, firefighters reportedly saw flames coming from one room of the home. They made “a quick attack and were able to confine the fire to one room,” reports the department.

On Feb. 2, at approximately 11 a.m. the U.S. Marshal's Service informed Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman that Robert Mounts and Ashley Lewis were arrested in Terre Haute, Indiana on Jasper County warrants for credit/debit card abuse and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The couple are considered persons of interest in the death of Dr. Herbert Deaton whose body was found on Nov. 13, 2014.
