The “On Purpose” Tour featuring country music star Clint Black comes to Beaumont on Thursday, Aug. 4, with Black appearing inside the Julie Rogers Theatre (765 Pearl) in downtown Beaumont at 7 p.m. Tickets are $43-$65. A member of the Grand Ole Opry who was raised in nearby Katy, Black will have his entire band supporting him, so expect to hear several of his 22 No.

Barry Richards, 34, is a veteran of both the United States Army and Marine Corps. He’s from Long Island but was in Beaumont on Aug. 3 to honor local law enforcement officers.

“I want to let police know I support them,” Richards said before carrying an American flag for three miles through downtown Beaumont.

Jefferson County Commissioners have tentatively committed to approving a budget for the coming fiscal year that will not raise the tax burden placed on property owners, but in order to do so, the elected leaders have to figure out how to balance a budget with more funding requests and less income.

According to Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick, who heads the Commissioners Court, the county has been hard hit by lowered gas prices.
