On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the sun will be visible in the continental United States for the first time in almost 40 years, City of Beaumont spokesperson Rosanna Mojica said in a release.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office’s Warrant Division, assisted by the U.S. Marshals, arrested several individuals with outstanding warrants over the past several days, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said in a release on Aug. 1.

A total of 23 people were arrested on felony warrants throughout the county. Deputies started each day, before sunrise, with a knock on someone’s door. One of the arrests resulted in additional charges being filed in addition to the felony warrant.

This past weekend, the Beaumont Police Department’s Explorer Post 730 went to the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association State Competition, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.

On Tuesday, August 1, at 1:18 a.m., Beaumont police officers were in the 500 block of Dowlen Road when they pulled into the Glen Oaks apartment complex at 520 Dowlen Road and observed several males pulling on the door handles of vehicles and checking to see if they were unlocked, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.
