Dennis Reeves

A temporary restraining order has been granted to the family of Dennis Reeves, the Kirbyville High School principal found dead of a gunshot wound on the school’s campus May 23 with his foot on the brake pedal of his still running truck. Reeves’ family is seeking the court’s intervention to prevent the destruction of evidence they allege could shed light on what transpired in the time leading up to the death, according to court documents.

Mary Anne Stedman Howell

Mary Anne Stedman Howell, 97, passed away peacefully Monday, June 5, 2017, in the serenity of her home, leaving behind her loving family who adored her so.

Corbin Branch

Already in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail for a slew of felony allegations after he and alleged co-conspirators Demarcus Brown, 26, and Fredrick Tyson, 21, were arrested in the midst of a crime spree that targeted Beaumont’s West End earlier this year, 19-year-old Corbin Branch is facing additional felony charges after a grand jury handed up indictments this week alleging even more bad acts committed by the teenage criminal.

As Southeast Texas looks forward at the months-long hurricane season, NOAA forecasters and local emergency responders say the time is now to prepare for what could potentially be early and  destructive storms.

First responders across the area are performing drills to perfect evacuation efforts and disseminating information to ready local residents for a quick exit if evacuation becomes mandatory.


Local Poet Detrick Hughes will hold a series of workshops planned starting in September at the Theodore John Library.

He will feature his work at Poetry Renaissance on August 21.
