In 2004, Livingston native Ronnie Hindsman was doing what he’d done a thousand times before – a simple job out of a bucket truck for the Sam Houston Electric Cooperative, where he’d been working for more than 25 years. It was a job he’d done so many times that he didn’t bother wearing the rubber gloves.

Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 8:53 p.m., Beaumont police responded to an aggravated robbery-in-progress at the Dollar General at 7365 Highway 105.

Witnesses reported to officers that two black males entered the store, both brandishing handguns. One suspect stayed by the front door while the second suspect forced the clerk to open the safe at gunpoint, according to the statement, but a witness inside the store subdued the suspect and held him down until police arrived. The other suspect fled the area prior to officers' arrival.

Monday, Oct. 17, at 11:46 p.m., officers responded in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on MLK northbound at Elgie .

The caller stated the victim was not responding. Officers learned a female pedestrian was attempting to cross the road in the dark and was struck by a passing vehicle.

The second suspect allegedly involved in a string of recent convenience store robberies has been taken into custody.

Detectives brought Shameca La’Shawn Pugh, a 37-year-old Beaumont woman, in for questioning Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Lone Survivor Foundation’s third annual Golf Tournament and Fundraiser held at the Brentwood Entertainment Complex in Beaumont raised $22,000 for recovering veterans and their rehabilitation facility in Crystal Beach on Oct. 7, according to Brenda Jenkins, administrator at Brent Coon and Associates (BCA), one of the main sponsors for the event. Other sponsors included iHeart Media and Pate Resources Group.
