The Port Neches Police Department compiled their weekly crime report for Nov. 22 through Nov. 28. Theresa Beavens, PNPD secretary, released this summary on Friday, Dec. 2.

Nov. 22

Officer investigated a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the 800 block of Ridgewood Drive.

Officer investigated a report of a theft in the 1000 block of Sun Avenue.

Allison Nathan Getz, Tax Assessor-Collector for Jefferson County, announced Dec. 1 that the tax office in Mid-County will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 22, in order to install new registration and title system (RTS) workstation and printers. The Beaumont and Port Arthur Sub-Courthouse Tax Office locations will remain open that day.

The Museum of the Gulf Coast is hosting a Holiday Extravaganza "Jingle All the Way" Family Fun Day on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Jingle All the Way" will include Christmas carriage rides as well as arts and crafts and games. A free screening of the 1989 film Prancer will be shown at 12:30 pm.

"Carriage rides are on a first come, first serve basis with the last ride at 1:30," the Museum of the Gulf Coast said in a release. One free museum gift per family will be offered while supplies last.

The homeless woman killed in a hit and run on College Street has now been identified, BPD PIO Carol Riley said in a release Dec. 5.

"The victim has been identified as Bonnie Lee Casaneve, 67 year old homeless white female," Riley said in her statement. She added that the victim was struck while pushing a shopping cart.

Police have identified two homicide victims found shot to death in Beaumont on Dec. 4, reports Beaumont Police Department Officer Carol Riley.
