I-10 and US 69N traffic that was already backed up because of a road closure near the Sabine River can expect further delays due to an accident near the Delaware exit in Beaumont. US69 became a detour route because of the 1-10 closure. This detour is now experiencing traffic stalls because of the accident. More information will be released when it becomes available.

Collier Ferry Park and Boat Ramp, located at 5390 Pine Street in between Beaumont Country Club and Forest Lawn Memorial Park had been closed due to flooding caused by the overflowing Neches River. According to the National Weather Service the Neches River is nearing a flood record which occurred in October of 1994 and numerous homes in Northeast Beaumont and Rose City are flooded. River levels are near those reached during Tropical Storm Allison in 2001.

Ronald Rice

A man whose crime spree spread across three Texas counties and into Louisiana was sentenced to 25 years in prison on March 14 for the aggravated robbery of a Subway restaurant in Beaumont.

Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced March 14 that Jefferson County Judge John Stevens sentenced Ronald Rice, 33, to two-and-a-half decades in prison for the aggravated robbery charge. Rice was also sentenced to 10 years for Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle. Rice previously pleaded guilty to both offenses on February 16.
