The Mexican Heritage Society’s 48th Annual Fiesta is set for Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Robert A. “Bob” Bowers Center is at 3401 Cultural Center Drive off Texas 73 in Port Arthur, with festivities running from 9:30 a.m. to midnight.

IEA-Inspire, Encourage, Achieve recently hosted the closing ceremony and luncheon for Camp Bright Star (CBS) at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church to celebrate student progress and success of 33 young people this summer. Beaumont narcotics detectives and officers with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have reportedly recovered 41 pounds of what they believe to be synthetic marijuana hidden inside a local auto repair shop and arrested one suspect in connection to a federal search warrant executed Sept. 7, Beaumont Police Department Officer Carol Riley reported.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Rose City in Orange County.

The crash resulted in I-10 westbound traffic lanes being closed for 45 minutes to an hour, according to Sarah Dupre, public information officer for Texas Department of Transportation. The crash occurred near Boomtown USA RV Resort.
