A collaboration of efforts has been rallied in Orange County, where investigators are searching for a suspect in a Sept. 6 bank robbery.

According to Captain Cliff Hargrave of the Orange Police Department, an armed suspect entered the Firestone Federal Credit Union in West Orange on Thursday, Sept. 6, and demanded money from a teller at gunpoint while a customer looked on.

Chamber recommends voters say no

 

Sept. 25, Port Arthur residents will be voting on a proposed Port Arthur Independent School District tax increase the district says will generate an additional $5.5 million in revenue per year based on current taxable values. The PAISD Board is asking taxpayers for an increase of 13 cents per $100 of assessed value in their property taxes to generate this revenue.

A 37-year-old Beaumont man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales.

Curtis Duane Butcher pleaded guilty on April 19, 2012, to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute between 100 and 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison on Aug. 30, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone.

Ronald Guilbeaux, 53 (born Feb. 11, 1959), last known addresses 902 Fulton in Beaumont and 450 Ozen St., St. Landry, La., was sentenced Friday Aug. 31, to a term of 50 years in the penitentiary in connection with his July 11, 2012, conviction by a jury of aggravated sexual assault of a child in the 2011 rape of a 5-year-old child at his Beaumont residence.
