Known as the world’s only living Houdini, Aron Houdini will be in Beaumont on March 17 to perform an escape stunt outside at the Crockett Street Entertainment Complex at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The Lamar State dream season was bounced back into reality Tuesday evening and its championship aspirations were dashed after the Seahawks offense was held in check virtually all night in a 70-52 loss to the Monroe Mustangs.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested 26-year-old Amanda Jean Lewis, of Orange, for the November 2010 deaths of Cristin, 12, and Katie Grubbs, 11, on Monday, March 14. 

According to the Department of Public Safety, Lewis' blood alcohol level was over the legal limit at the time of the accident, when she crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 105 in Vidor, crashing into the vehicle of Grant Grubbs, of which to sisters were passengers. The girls died at the scene and their father suffered broken ribs.

With the second annual Exygon and Baptist Hospitals Gusher Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K Run taking place Saturday, March 12, access to streets in the area of the marathon may be limited.

The downtown exit will be closed from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a number of streets will also be blocked off to allow for runners to safely participate. Martin Luther King will be blocked off between Jim Gilligan Way/Floriday Avenue to College Street. Access to downtown will be difficult and may require patrons to the downtown area to park and walk a few blocks to their destination.

UPDATE MARCH 15: According to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, on Monday, March 14, at about 9:45 p.m. JCSO was notified that prison escapee David Puckett had been arrested by Omaha Police Department in Nebraska.
