Senior thesis projects ranging from graphic design and photography to painting and textiles will be on display at Lamar University’s Dishman Art Museum from May 3 to 16. The reception for the student thesis art exhibition will be Friday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the exhibition and the reception is free.
This exhibition is the culmination of study for 12 seniors graduating this spring with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, and one graduate student completing her Master of Arts.
The weather April 26-28 made for a soggy first weekend of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, more commonly known as Jazz Fest, but festivalgoers still managed to have a good time. Here’s hoping for beautifully cool and sunny weather right here in Beaumont for the Jazz & Blues Fest on Saturday, May 18, at Crockett Street Entertainment District. With the purchase of one $10 ticket, guests can hear 14 different bands all in one area. Funds raised go to support the Museum of the Gulf Coast.
According to news released by the Orange Police Department on May 1, on Thursday, April 25, 2013, officers from the OPD Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 3819 Meeks Dr. Apt. L7. Officers seized two grams of crack cocaine, one Hydrocodone pill, and two vials of anabolic steroids. Officers also found a .45 caliber pistol. Cody Dwayne Janice, 22, was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
