A Groves family received a rude wake-up call Friday morning when a truck barreled into their house.

Groves Police Sgt. Tim McCurley said police responded to a call around 7:45 this morning to a pickup truck hitting a house in the 3500 block of Charles. Fortunately, the famliy escaped injury and the 32-year-old driver of the truck was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.


Port Arthur Police are investigating the city's second homicide of the year after responding to an assault call Thursday night.

According to a Major Raymond Clark, police responded to a home at 1025 Dunbar around 6:45 p.m. where they found 44-year-old Robert Prevost had been shot and killed. Prevost was discovered by his brother, and apparently had been dead for "several hours" according to Clark.

There was no forced entry into the home and Clark said no suspects have been identified. The Port Arthur Homicide Unit is investigating.


The Beaumont Police Department is searching for a man wanted for several cocaine-related warrants.

Paul Finnell Jr., 28, of Beaumont, has a number of felony warrants in Jefferson County with bonds totally $785,000. His last known vehicle was a silver 1998 Buick Lesabre with Texas license plate BN1 F702 and he is known to frequent the Lucas/Concord area in North Beaumont.

His Jefferson County warrants are as follows:

1. Contempt of Court $10,000 bond

According to reports from the Orange Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Bancroft in reference to an accident involving a motorcycle and a bicycle shortly before 5:30 p.m. April 13.
