A Beaumont man is on trial for the second time, facing charges after he fired upon two Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies during a 2014 incident in which he was shot.

There isn’t a day that passes that Beaumont nurse Brenda Garison doesn’t think about how distracted driving can cause horrendous consequences. In just the time it took for a driver to fiddle with his phone – allegedly sending pictures and surfing the Internet – she lost three members of her family in a five-car pileup that also claimed the life of another man.
