Police in Vidor arrested two apparently intoxicated women following a car crash on Aug. 10, reports the Vidor Police Department (VPD), but not before one of them allegedly assaulted an officer.

Aug. 18, a police detective in Orange discovered a man apparently suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a vehicle parked in the parking lot north of the Orange Police Department at 303 8th St., reports Capt. Robert Enmon.

Market Basket announces that they are accepting non-perishable food, water and non-food necessities for Louisiana flood victims at all 34 stores in Texas and Louisiana.

The collection drive started Wednesday, Aug. 17 in all Market Basket stores and will continue through Saturday, Sept. 3, at which time donations collected will be shipped to relief agencies for immediate distribution.
