City of Beaumont Parks and Recreation employees changed out the old, faded city and U.S. flags for new, vibrantly colored ones at Delia Harrington Park in downtown Beaumont. Tony Lasalle; Michael Garrett, rode to the top of the flagpole using a city bucket truck; and Troy Landry worked as a team to ensure the U.S. flag never touched the ground. The national symbol that has long flown above the park in downtown Beaumont will be given to a local Boy Scout troop to be properly retired.

This Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) invited the public come to one of the almost 5,000 collection sites around the nation to return all unwanted, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs for safe and anonymous disposal during the the agency's 10th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day in the past five years.
