On Monday, March 27, Beaumont Police responded to the 6300 block of College Street, in reference to checking the welfare of a person laying in the ditch on the side of the road, Officer Haley Morrow reported.

Port Arthur Police Department Narcotics Officers, with the assistance of the United States Postal Service and the Port Arthur SWAT Team, conducted a search warrant in the 3900 block of Shadowbend Lane on March 24. A search of the residence uncovered approximately six pounds of high-grade marijuana along with THC oils and wax, reports Port Arthur spokesperson Risa Carpenter.

This data will help scientists determine the life cycle of interstellar gas in our Milky Way galaxy, witness the formation and destruction of star-forming clouds, and understand the dynamics and gas flow in the vicinity of the center of our galaxy.

When Beaumont Police Officer Michael Jones responded to a routine call reporting suspicious persons lurking in the dumpster area of a closed business near Interstate 10 in the wee morning hours of March 15, it didn’t take long for the public servant to decipher that at least one of the persons of interest was indeed participating in criminal behavior.

The Beaumont City Council voted March 21 in favor of an ordinance declaring three properties public nuisances for accumulating excess litter and thereby providing shelter and  a breeding ground for rodents and mosquitoes. The owners of three properties must clean up their yards within 10 days. If they don’t, the city is going to do it for them, and the owners will have to pay for the cleanup efforts or face civil action, like having liens placed on the properties.
