Ladies and gentlemen, I have a problem. I love barbecue. I love it so much I travel around the state of Texas, most of the time with my kids in tow, to the legendary and not yet legendary barbecue joints around this great state. Planning vacations around dining at places that mainly serve lunch has its challenges, especially when you try and hit multiple locations in one day, but it is more than worth it. If that is not enough, on weekends I’m not traveling, I’m either cooking or judging barbecue.

CNL Healthcare Properties, a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on senior housing and healthcare facilities, has acquired a portfolio of two specialty hospitals and three inpatient rehabilitation hospitals for approximately $131.1 million — including Victory Medical Center in Beaumont.

Beaumont has been awarded Bronze Scenic City certification by Scenic Texas. Beaumont is one of 15 cities in the state to earn first-time or upgraded certification for the 2014-2019 period.

In February 2012, by a 97 percent majority vote, the congregation of Beaumont’s First Baptist Church chose to sell their historic property in downtown Beaumont and relocate to Beaumont’s West End. June 2014 the church broke ground at their new acreage at Folsom and Major Drive. The week of Sept. 29, the church lays a new physical foundation for its fifth major building enterprise in the church’s 142-year history.
