Gift of Life and Motiva Representatives

Through the generous support of Motiva, more than 30 medically underserved Southeast Texas women recently received free Gift of Life clinical breast exams and mammograms on the UTMB mobile van located at the West Side Development Center in Port Arthur, as well as preventative healthcare screenings, including blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol, provided in partnership with the Port Arthur Health Department.

Motiva representatives attended the site to warmly greet clients.

Community Bank IPO now set on Nasdaq

CBTX Inc., the bank holding company for CommunityBank of Texas, N.A., announced Nov. 7 the pricing of the initial public offering of 2.4 million shares of its common stock at a public offering price of $26 per share. CBTX has also granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 360,000 shares of its common stock. CBTX’s common stock is expected to begin trading on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the trading symbol “CBTX” on Nov. 8.

With appeals exhausted, the 2016-17 Texas Education Agency (TEA) FIRST ratings were officially released this week, scoring the financial accountability of the state’s districts and open-enrollment charter schools. By no means an exhaustive examination of funds, the FIRST scores give the public an indicator of fiscal health in the state’s public and charter schools.

Recently, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, Demus Lee Westmoreland, 52, was arrested in Beaumont after failing to register as a sex offender in Galveston. Now, police are looking for another Top 10 sex offender, 64-year-old Troy James Allison, who has been on the lam since 2004 after failing to register in Lufkin and who once called Beaumont home.

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 11:28 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to the 5600 block of West Cardinal Drive eastbound in reference to an auto-pedestrian crash, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.
