Number seven may be the charm, but an audience gathered at Beaumont Independent School District’s West Brook campus Tuesday, May 7, sounded off against BISD’s most recent redistricting map, which was only made available for review the same day. BISD is redistricting as part of a constitutional mandate that requires voting entities to re-evaluate their district lines after each census to ensure fair representation to all the population.

As part of its ongoing commitment to support education, The Beaumont Foundation recently selected 16 teachers from an impressive collection of nominations submitted by schools throughout Southeast Texas for the Wayne A. Reaud Excellence in Education Award. Each award recipient was honored at an awards gala and received a crystal obelisk, a portrait and $10,000.

The fourth annual “Paying It Forward Fishing With Kids” Bass Tournament will be held June 15 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cassels-Boykin Park on Lake Sam Rayburn. Registration is open until June 13. The entry form, which includes the rules and requirements, is available on The Examiner’s website.
