March 1 is Election Day for Democratic and Republican primary voters, with important races to be decided in both parties. You owe it to yourself, your fellow citizens and all those who fought so you could have the right to vote to exercise that sacred duty.

But do not merely walk into the polling place and pull a lever – take the time to acquaint yourself with the candidates and the issues for which they stand. Cast your vote for the man or woman you feel will do the best job without worrying about their party, gender or race.

After such an overwhelming response last year, Beaumont Civic Ballet returns with their production of Alice in Wonderland for one performance Sunday, March 6, at the Julie Rogers Theatre at 3 p.m.

For more than 40 years, the Beaumont Civic Ballet has presented a masterpiece in The Nutcracker each December and last year, for their second performance, debuted Alice in Wonderland.

On Saturday, February 27, from 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., the 7th Annual Gusher Marathon will begin and end at the Lamar University Montagne Center. The course circles Lamar University, proceeds along MLK Parkway to College St. (Hwy. 90) and winds through downtown Beaumont.
